Rarely have I been accused of being a man of few words, but that is what occurred on Saturday night at Bill and Teresa’s party. When Bill confessed on the video to have taken Rudy, I thought that was the end of it, but the adventure that followed was truly amazing and one of the funniest damn things I have ever seen. I am in awe of it all. If the term “hook, line, and sinker” ever applied to anything, it did to me. My instincts were right to include Bill and Ron on my list of “people of interest”, but they turned out to be terrific liars, and promptly put me on the trail of another neighbor, Daryl. I guess now would be an appropriate time to apologize to Daryl, Chris, and Dave the mailman for harassing them. In retrospect, demanding handwriting samples, showing up at houses late at night with flashlights and a bullhorn does seem a little over the top. It is comforting to know that Rudy was not actually stolen, but more “borrowed” for a good cause. It is also a bit depressing knowing that one of your lawn ornaments has lived a more exciting life than you. I will try to add a little something in the near future about Little Rudy’s happy homecoming, but in the meantime, thanks to all who had a hand in this. It was tremendous.
